Week 3 • March 8-14
This week we will begin reading about the Acts of the apostles as the Early Church was birthed. 1 & 2 Timothy are written by Paul to his young protégé in the faith. Both are encouraging letters which provide clear instruction on the difference Christ makes in the way His people live and challenge to live obediently. Galatians is one of Paul’s stronger letters written to address false-teaching that had emerged in the church in Galatia.
DAY 15 • March 8
Acts 1:1 - Acts 8:40
Key Verse: Acts 2:4
The greatest power in the world exists in the hearts and lives of mere Christians. Giving us the ability to transform ourselves to the mind of Christ. Giving us opportunities to reach others with the gospel. Giving those abilities to others to transform and on and on.
DAY 16 • March 9
Acts 9:1-18:28
Key Verses: Acts 11:23, 24
Picking up with the continuation of Peter’s ministry, we see the conversion of Saul, and the expansion of the church through his three missionary journeys under his new name of Paul, his association with Barnabas and Silas, as well as the trials and persecution of these early church leaders. Nevertheless, because of the Holy Spirit, God’s people were empowered so they could accomplish the tasks God had given them. As you read these scriptures, put yourself in the place of the disciples ---feel with them as they are filled with the Holy Spirit, the thrill with them as they see thousands respond the gospel message.
DAY 17 • March 10
Acts:19:1-28:30
Key Verses: Acts 22:3-21
Life-changing experience with Jesus. If you are a believer then you’ve had one of those experiences. The experience might have not come with bright lights, in a prison cell, a rehab center or a back alley, but you were touched by the Son of God. You have a story that is better than any novel because your story is part of God’s epic. That is something to testify about. Do not be afraid to tell your story. As you read today, ask God to give you opportunities to share your experience with God to others.
DAY 18 • March 11
1 Timothy 1:1-6:21
Key Verses: 1 Timothy 1:3-5
1 Timothy is written by Paul to his protégé, Timothy, who was in Ephesus. Timothy had remained there to deal with certain problems that had emerged within the church. Paul’s letter outlines for Timothy instructions about church life – a commitment to truth, standards for worship, personal integrity and character for church government and leadership. As you read today, ask God to reveal how you can be His person in His church.
DAY 19 • March 12
2 Timothy 1:1- 2 Timothy 4:22 & Galatians 1:1- Galatians 6:8
Key Verse: Galatians 6:4
Do you ever compare yourself to somebody else? Why? People look at the flaws in someone else to feel better about themselves. Others simply want reassurance that they are doing ok. When you are tempted to compare yourself against another, compare yourself with Jesus! Humbling, isn’t it? His example will inspire you to do your very best and His loving acceptance will comfort you when you fall short.
